Training Tip:
Have your horse mentally ready for a more productive training session.
If your horse is fresh and frisky they will not be ready to learn. Take
an
extra few minutes to lunge a fresh horse and let them play. Once in the
saddle spend 10 or 15 minutes walking slowly stopping, backing and
bending.
This quiet work will slow down your horse mentally allowing them to focus
and
learn their new lesson.
Starting at age four, Cathy rode and showed western horses. At 17, she
went to England to study dressage and jumping. She tested before the
British Horse Society and earned her B.H.S.A.I. certificate before
returning home to open a training stable.
Horses and riders trained by Cathy have won championships at western
pleasure, western riding, trail, western horsemanship, showmanship, hunter
under saddle, hunt seat equitation, hunter hack and working hunters.
A director of the Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Association since 1992, she
has chaired the amateur and show committees as well as serving on the
executive committee.
An active clinician, she was member of the coaching team for the Youth
World Cup. Her training and teaching techniques have been featured in many
magazines. She lives in San Juan Capistrano, CA.
