Express: Know and Go

“Express” courses

What you need to Know so you can Go!

We know you are pressed for time, yet you still want to know all the things necessary to provide the best possible care and training for your horse.

“Know and Go Express Courses” are short, fast, full of facts, giving you what you need to know and nothing more.

For example, there are books and books and books on bits, but the fact is there are only two kinds of bits—snaffles and curbs, and both kinds are designed to create “discomfort.”   What you need to know is how bits work and why a particular bit is best for your horse.

You don’t need to be able to shoe a horse, but you sure need to know if your horse is being shod correctly.  With the Know and Go Express course you’ll quickly understand the hoof anatomy and why perfect hoof balance is essential if your horse is going to stay sound.

Conformation standards are meaningful only as they relate to “efficiency of movement.”  But what if you want a “special movement,” such as a park horse, or jumper, or carriage horse?  Learn to look at a horse’s conformation and know what that horse can do best and why.

 Choose:  Conformation, Form to Function.

Horse training is really nothing more than learning a system of communication. You do the asking, and if the horse understands your request, he’ll perform.  You’ll learn the necessary “behavior modification” techniques to help your horse grasp and master every lesson.

Choose:  How to Talk Horse Talk and Train Better.

Horse nutrition isn’t just throwing a flake of hay in a corral.  It is both science and art and unless you know how to combine the two, your horse may not be performing up to par. How much protein does he need?  What are his required mineral ratios? Is he getting too much digestible energy, or not quite enough to satisfy his needs?

Choose: Nutrition: Observation of Art and Science

The old gray mare may not be what she used to be, but there is still plenty of life and usefulness in her—if she is being fed correctly. Feed manufacturers know the senior horse’s special needs, but do you? Can you formulate a feeding program for your loyal trusting friend?
