SLOW YOUR HORSE WITH THE ROLLBACK

If you want to slow your horse's pace and soften her at the same time, use the rollback!

Getting a horse to maintain a slow, even, steady cadence is often hard to accomplish.   When on a loose rein, horses tend to want to increase their pace…it's actually easier for them.   Use the rollback to keep your horse thinking about what might be requested instead of "getting on down the road."

Moving to the right at a nice jog, for example, your horse starts to increase its pace.  Use the rollback now and head the horse off in the opposite direction at a nice smooth, even cadence.   The instant she starts to increase pace, use the rollback again.
