Stop trying to be perfect when training your horse!

Riding to not let the horse make a mistake keeps you from teaching what is correct.

Ask the horse to do what you want.  (Do try to be perfect in your request…make it clear and precise.)

Now let the horse perform, and if he makes a mistake, rejoice.

You now have another chance to show the horse what is correct…to praise him, to make him comfortable.

Mistakes are opportunities for action and action is what it takes to help the horse learn.

When you try to avoid mistakes you focus on the negative.  That tends to make you ineffective as a teacher.  Focus on changing a negative into a positive…embrace the mistake so you can teach the correct response.
