A Horse, Of Course, by Don Blazer

Horses hear and talk with their ears.
Plus their ears can tell you if they have a temperature and at times they are a good "handle."
Horses have an extremely good sense of hearing…we know that, but little else about how he hears…it is suspected his hearing is more similar to, rather than different from our hearing.

Can you train your horses to be champion performers
by taking an online course?…..you bet you can!

She started as a 2-year-old "demonstration" horse for
www.horsecoursesonline.com and finished with two ABRA World Championship awards and a Reserve World Championship title.

Sheza Especial Gold got her training as a demonstration horse for Don Blazer's online course,
Training Performance Horses.  Step by step she followed the course program until she competed for 2010 and 2011 World Championship titles at the American Buckskin Registry Association show in Tulsa, Ok.  Blazer rode the 5-year-old filly in her competition classes.

In 2010 Sheza won the ABRA Junior Trail Horse title under all five judges, and then came back this year to repeat as a judge's choice sweep in Junior Trail.

This year the filly also won Reserve World Champion honors in All-Ages Western Riding, a pattern class requiring 8 flying changes of lead.  She was the only junior horse in the class.

Sheza was sold at the Reichert Celebration Show Horse Sale in 2011.

"We start young horses as part of our video demonstrations for students participating in our online equine study programs," Blazer said.  "The horses graduate (along with some students) when they complete their "junior horse status."

HorseCoursesOnline.com courses can lead to a Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies from Breyer State University, or professional certification as a horse trainer, riding instructor or stable manager from the Equine Studies Institute.

"We'll miss Sheza in our program," Blazer said.  "Hopefully she'll go on to win many more titles for other horse lovers.   I think she'll make an exceptional all-around horse for an amateur or youth rider."

Sheza's trail horse training followed the course instructions in Train A Trail Horse, taught by world champion trainer and AQHA director Cathy Hanson.   The filly's education in western riding came from following the instructions in Train for Western Riding taught by world champion trainer Nancy Cahill.

HorseCoursesOnline.com offers 26 different equine study courses taught by 17 award-winning instructors, each with proven records of success in the fields they teach.

"Our completely online degree and certification courses teach practical, real-world knowledge that any student of the horse can use immediately to improve the health care and training of their horse," Blazer said.  "Sheza's record of success demonstrates that online educational programs work, and our more than 4,000 students in 27 counties demonstrates that online education is convenient and affordable."

As I See It!

From a strictly financial point of view, most college degrees are not a good investment.  Most of the time you won't get a positive return on the money you've spent, and in many cases you'll end up deep in debt.

If you have a college degree, you'll earn more money during your working lifetime than someone without a degree; that's a fact, and part of the "sales pitch" to get you to go to college. But that is half the story.  What they don't tell you is that it doesn't mean you'll have more money; in fact, you could lose all the extra earnings, plus more, just paying your college tuition and interest on student loans.  You could earn more and have less than a person who doesn't go to college.

The average bachelor's degree in equine studies at a traditional college is $85,000, and that doesn't include keeping your horse with you.  That's $21.250 per year if paid in cash…if paid as a student loan, the average interest charge would be about $41,000…

The total cost of a Breyer State University BS degree in Equine Studies done online is $12,500….that's less than 1/3 the interest charges on a traditional college student loan.

A college degree today is only as good as the "extra income" it gets you during your lifetime; and that means that only certain degrees are worth anything.

Degrees for professions which require "licensing" are valuable-doctors, lawyers, dentist, pharmacists, veterinarians.  Degrees for hard science are valuable - mathematics, engineering, physics.

Degrees which are "affordable" in fields which would be considered "vocational" are valuable. Such degrees today are virtually all online; they are affordable and they account for nearly 25 per cent of all college students.

You don't need a college education to be financially successful. But if you want a college education, get a degree without going into debt, and get one which allows you to make your passion your profession.
